My Client Has (or Lost) a "Green Card"

A green card will prove legal presence in the United States.   Your client must show the SOS their original “green card,” or lawful permanent residence card (I-551 card). This is a card given to non-residents who are in the United States legally. It is issued by the Department of Homeland Security (U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services or USCIS). SOS will only accept green cards issued after December 1997. If your client got your card before that time,  your client will have to renew their green card.
